7/8 English Language Arts
8 -- Good work in class today, everyone. Remember that your I.R. Response Tic-tac-toe is due on Monday. Review the figurative language slides if you need more practice with them. You will have a quiz next week. We will finish the practice stations on Monday.
7B -- You all rocked class today. Great job with your notes and the activities. We will be practicing with SHAMPOO in the next few classes. You will have a quiz on next Thursday, Sept. 1.
8B -- If you need to review the figurative language from last year plus idioms, you can use this slideshow. We will practice with figurative language in the next class, and you will have a quiz on next Thursday, Sept. 1.
7s -- Great class today, everyone. I really enjoyed playing Kahoot, and I am looking forward to more review games. Almost everyone had a book in class today. Find time to read a little each day. That will help you finish the book on time and complete the weekly activities that are due on Day 1s.
Have a great weekend!
Great class today, 7th graders! You all did a lot, and you handled yourselves so well in the lab! I will be looking over your diagnostic tests to see where we need to go from here. You did a good job working individually today on your notes and notebook activity. I am looking forward to the figurative language review game to start class tomorrow! Review if you need to.
Remember, you need to complete the Cornell notes and activity for homework if you did not complete it in class. Also, have your Independent Reading book IN CLASS TOMORROW!

I enjoyed meeting all of my new students over the last three days and seeing all of you who returned! I am looking forward to this year and the new schedule, and I hope you are, too! Over the next few classes we will continue working with the procedures and moving into our first units. So far, you all are doing great!
Below is information about class materials, Summer Reading, and Independent Reading in case you still have questions.
Summer Reading: Due (Friday). Click HERE for a list of students whose work I DO NOT have as of 1:25 p.m. Friday.
Beginning next Wednesday, August 17, every student should have an Independent Reading book. This may be a paper book or an electronic book. If you need help finding a book right for you, see me during a recess, or check out the resources tab at the top of this page. There are links to book suggestions.
