Today we discussed the Independent Reading assignment for each quarter. After I present this assignment each year, I usually have a lot of questions from students about which books they should read. This is independent reading, and I want you to read something YOU want to read. Below I have some suggestions for finding the right book for you and some places you can go for suggestions.
Finding a book right for you:
1. Ask a friend. Your friends know you and what you like pretty well. As them for some suggestions.
2. Read the next book in the series. If you've read a book that is part of a series - and liked it - why not find the next book and read it?
3. Look for books similar to others you like. You can use websites such as What Should I Read Next? to find books similar to ones you like.
4. Try something new. Check out a bestseller list and choose a book from there. Try something from a genre you don't read much. You might just find something amazing.
